Drone racing has been a very famous sport lately. The first-ever drone was developed in the 20th century and since then these drones have evolved a lot. Nowadays these drones are used for aerial photography, research and entertainment purposes. It was the year 2013 when the drones have developed a little bit more and become a mainstream thing. Till then drones are something like a hobby but the situations changed and people started competing with their drones.
The first-ever drone competition was conducted in Australia. The pilots of these drones used FPV goggles to get a cockpit kind of view. These goggles have helped the pilots in understanding and using the drone conveniently even though it is from a distance. This is the start of the drone racing and since then the races have become a lot famous.
Main Systems Of Drone Racing
The drones used for racing are quite different from normal drones. The usual photography drones are made for clicking amazing aerial photographs but the drones used in racing are somewhat different. These drones are dependent on the speed and it is mandatory for the drones to offer high speeds to the users. They should possess great acceleration and agility. The drones are capable of reaching 160 kilometers per hour and if the right directions are given they can travel to a longer distance.
The battery is another main part of drone racing. It is important for these drones to have commendable battery life. As drone racing will be organized for a good amount of time, it is important for the batteries to provide a good amount of life. In high-speed racing, the batteries should last at least for 10 minutes and it will be great if it lasts for a longer time.
The thrust system in this drone racing is the result of propellers. The drones are equipped with plastic propellers and these are spun at different levels depending upon the requirement. The drones have a separate system called ECS which controls the speed of these drones. There are a set of propellers that are mostly used in all kinds of racing drones.
What Is Drone Racing?
Now after learning about the drones involved in drone racing, now it is time for you to understand what and how this drone racing is conducted. The drone racing is motorsport which has evolved as a favorite for the millennial generation. The main challenge in this race is to master the course with a quadcopter that a person has. Similar to other races there will be some obstacles involved and the drone that gets to the finish line first will be the one that will win that race. The pilots will stand individually at the end of the track and the time taken by each quadcopter is compared.
There are drag races where there will be two or more than two quadcopters in the field. This is more fun and involves a little bit more action too.
